Compare Columns
The Compare Columns option allows comparing column definitions, like data type, size, length...
Before you execute comparison:
To compare specific columns:
- Right-click on the column name (on one of sides)
- From the mouse menu, select Compare->Columns
OR
From the main menu select Compare->Columns Properties
If Comparison Options are configured to save the result to the output file, you will be asked to provide the file name. For more information, see Comparison Options
Understanding the Comparison report:
- If the columns are identical, only information message is returned
- If the columns have different configurations, Columns Property Differences dialog will open
- The left grid column shows Column Properties
- Grid contains lines with different colors:
- Red font – property's value differs between compared columns
- Blue font – property exists only in a column from one of the sides
- Black font – property's values are identical in the compared columns
Note: You can compare columns with different types of objects - Tables, Views and Virtual Tables.
